The mountain marathon leads from the start (Gmunden Town Hall Square) over the Traun Bridge and the Ortnersteig trail to the Grünberg. It continues along the forest nature trail to Radmoos and westwards along forest roads to the start of the Naturfreundesteig trail (alpine trail!). Follow this to the Naturfreundehaus on the Traunstein and down the Mair-Alm-Steig to the Kaisertisch. Continue along forest roads to Karbach, along the eastern shore to the Daxnersteig (alpine trail!). Ascend this to the Spitzelsteinalm and descend again on the hiking trail to the village of Rindbach. The route continues to the refreshment stop at Ebensee Rathausplatz and over the Kalvarienberg on the hiking trail to the Kranabethhütte (former NF house) on the Feuerkogel. From the Feuerkogel plateau, descend northwards into the Langbathtal valley to the refreshment stop ‘Kreh’, continue on the hiking trail towards Hochsteinalm and descend again via meadow paths into the Mühlbachtal valley to the refreshment stop Mühlbach. Take the ‘Horn’ farm track to the Grasberg and continue on the hiking trail to the Gmundnerberg to the former Naturfreundehaus. Descend via the hiking trail and along the Gmundner Esplanade to the finish.
